At this meeting you will receive detailed information on the route, a list of what to bring, confirm your pick-up for the morning of the trek and be able to ask questions. However, if you wish to receive all the information in your hotel, let us know and our guide will kindly approach your hotel for the informative meeting.
CUSCO CITY TOUR – EVERY DAY – Morning (9AM) or Afternoon (1PM)
Duration: 4 hours approximately. / Daily departures.
We’ll pick you up at your hotel and first we will visit the “San Pedro” food market. which operates every day of the week with a variety of items sold, as the beautiful pastries, fresh juices, delicious cheeses, huge breads that are bigger than a head, tropical fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, fresh coca leaves, and also “strange” snakes in bottles, muzzles, animal heads and soups served with a jaw in it products. You can take all the time you want to tour the many small stalls, which are inspired by the style of this very special place, and you can buy traditional souvenirs.
Then we will walk to the ancient Temple of the Sun “Qorikancha”. Here you can see the detailed architecture maintained intact. Inside of the temple you will see smaller temples dedicated to the moon, rainbow, stars, lightning and thunder among others. Today the church of Santo Domingo is at the top of the Inca religious site.
Then we will walk through Aqllaywasi (house of the virgins of the sun) which is now the Santa Catalina convent. Afterwards we will walk to the 12-sided stone (Hatun Rumiyoq) remaining intact and currently used as a museum. This street is an example of the great predominance of Incan architecture and their incredible masonry, then we will visit the typical artisan area, home to the great artisans from the Inca era to present day with a long tradition in textiles, ceramics, metallurgy, and other art forms.
Then we will continue our walk to the Plaza de Armas, here our guide explains about many stories and legends from Incas time until now days in the heart of the city.
